ISNHS 124th Foundation Day

 Our 124th Foundation Day at Ilocos Sur National High School began with a parade around the streets of Vigan. I felt proud walking with my classmates, seeing the teachers, and other students join in. The atmosphere was full of excitement, with music and cheers from the crowd. After the parade, we took a short rest, which gave us time to prepare for the next part of the program.

The celebration continued with dance performances. I really enjoyed watching the teachers dance because it made the event more fun and lively. Then, the students from Grades 7 to 10 started performing their dances. As a Grade 10 student, I felt nervous but excited when it was our turn. The Grade 10 boys won 3rd runner-up, while the Grade 10 girls placed 4th runner-up. Even though we didn’t get the top spot, I was proud of the effort we gave and the teamwork we showed. It was a moment that reminded me how much we can achieve when we work together.

In the afternoon, the program became even more exciting with the Battle of the Bands. Different groups performed with passion, and the music filled the school grounds. I enjoyed listening to the bands and cheering with my classmates. It was one of the highlights of the day because it brought everyone together in a fun and lively way. The whole celebration from the parade to the dances and the music made me realize how special it is to be part of ISNHS. The 124th Foundation Day was not just about honoring the school’s history, but also about creating memories with friends and teachers that I will always treasure.

Lessons, Efforts, and Friendships that SHAPED me

As I look back on my 4th quarter journey in Grade 10, I realize how much growth, effort, and learning this period has brought into my life. It was not an easy path, but the challenges I faced and the bonds I built with my classmates made the experience meaningful and unforgettable. 

The 4th quarter was filled with academic demands, projects, exams, and deadlines that often felt overwhelming. One of my biggest struggles was managing my time between different subjects, especially when tasks piled up all at once. There were moments when I felt exhausted and doubted if I could keep up. However, I learned to push through by setting priorities, asking for help when needed, and dedicating extra hours to review and practice. My hard work paid off, not only in my grades but also in the confidence I gained from overcoming these obstacles. 

Solving these difficulties required discipline and determination. I started creating study schedules, breaking tasks into smaller parts, and focusing on one goal at a time. Whenever I encountered lessons I couldn’t fully understand, I reached out to teachers or classmates for guidance. This taught me that seeking help is not a weakness but a strength. Slowly, I became more organized and resilient, and I realized that perseverance is the key to success.

Beyond academics, what made this quarter truly special were the friendships and teamwork I shared with my classmates. We supported each other during stressful times, celebrated small victories together, and found joy even in simple moments like group activities or shared laughter. These bonds reminded me that school is not just about learning lessons from books, but also about building relationships that shape who we are. The sense of unity and camaraderie gave me strength to keep going, even when things got tough.

My 4th quarter journey as a Grade 10 student was a mix of struggles, hard work, and cherished memories. I learned that challenges are opportunities to grow, and that success is sweeter when shared with others. As I move forward, I carry with me the lessons of perseverance, teamwork, and friendship—values that will guide me not only in school but in life.

Honoring Women, Building Equality

 Every year in March, we celebrate Women’s Month. This special occasion is dedicated to honoring women and their important role in society. It is a time to look back at the struggles women faced in the past and to appreciate the progress they have made today. Women’s Month reminds us that women deserve equal rights, equal opportunities, and respect in all areas of life.  

In the Philippines, Women’s Month follows the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society.” This theme shows that everyone, men and women must work together to build a fair and inclusive community. During this month, many activities are held such as seminars, cultural programs, and events that highlight women’s leadership and achievements. These activities encourage people to recognize the strength and resilience of women in different fields.  

Women’s Month is also important because it inspires young girls to dream big. It tells them that they can become anything they want to be, teachers, doctors, engineers, accountants, or leaders in government. Today, more women are breaking barriers and proving that they can succeed in careers that were once dominated by men. This celebration gives hope and confidence to the next generation of women.  

For me, Women’s Month is not only about honoring women in history but also about looking forward to the future. It reminds me of my own dream of becoming an accountant. I want to show that women can excel in this profession and make a difference in society. By working hard and staying true to my goals, I hope to inspire others to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.  

In the end, Women’s Month is a celebration of courage, determination, and equality. It is a reminder that women are strong, capable, and deserving of every opportunity. As we continue to celebrate this occasion each year, we move closer to a world where women and men stand side by side, building a brighter and more inclusive future.

Building My Future as an Accountant

 Everyone has a dream that guides them in life. My dream is to become an accountant. I chose this path because I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems. Accounting is not only about keeping records, but also about helping people and businesses make smart financial decisions. I believe this career will give me a stable future and allow me to support my family while also serving others.  

In the future, I see myself working in a company or maybe even starting my own accounting office. I want to be trusted by people because of my honesty and hard work. Accountants play an important role in society because they make sure money is handled properly and fairly. I want to be part of that responsibility, and I know it will give me pride and purpose in life.  

To reach this dream, I need to study hard and stay focused. Accounting requires patience, discipline, and strong attention to detail. I know there will be challenges, like learning difficult lessons or facing tough exams, but I am ready to work through them. Every challenge will help me grow stronger and more prepared for the future.  

My dream is not only about success for myself. I also want to use my skills to help others. If I become a good accountant, I can guide businesses to grow and help families manage their finances better. This way, I can make a positive difference in my community. My dream motivates me to keep moving forward, even when life gets hard, because I know the future I want is worth fighting for.  

In the end, my dream and my future are connected. I want to live a life where I am proud of my work and the person I have become. Being an accountant will give me the chance to achieve my goals, help others, and build a better future.

The Day Love Never Fades

Valentine’s Day is celebrated every February 14, a day dedicated to love and affection. Its story goes back to Saint Valentine, who, according to legend, secretly helped couples marry during a time when it was forbidden. Over the years, people began to connect his name with romance, and the tradition of giving letters, flowers, and small gifts grew stronger.  

Today, Valentine’s Day is one of the most recognized celebrations worldwide. Couples exchange roses, chocolates, and cards, while friends and families also use the day to show care for one another. In the Philippines, it has become common to see mass weddings where many couples get married at once, making the day not only about romance but also about unity and community.  

The symbols of Valentine’s Day carry simple but powerful meanings. Roses stand for love and passion, chocolates for sweetness, and cards for heartfelt words. In modern times, people also share their feelings online through posts, photos, and digital greetings. This shows how Valentine’s Day continues to adapt to new ways of communication while keeping its message of love alive.  

What makes Valentine’s Day special is not just the gifts but the reminder that love should be celebrated every day. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply spending time together, the spirit of Valentine’s Day encourages us to value the people we care about. That is why, year after year, it remains a day to remember—always on Valentine’s Day.

🎉Intayon Ilocos Sur Festival 🎉

The Intayon Ilocos Sur Festival is one of the grandest celebrations in the province, drawing crowds from nearby towns and even visitors from other regions. Every year, the festival transforms Ilocos Sur into a lively hub of music, dance, and cultural pride. The streets are decorated with banners and colorful designs, while the air is filled with excitement as communities prepare to showcase their talents. It is a time when Ilocanos come together to celebrate their shared identity and heritage, making the festival not only a local event but also a cultural attraction for tourists.  

One of the most anticipated parts of the festival is the street dancing competition, where performers from different schools and municipalities compete with vibrant costumes and creative choreography. Each group tells a story through dance, often inspired by Ilocano traditions, farming life, or historical events. The dancers move in sync to lively music, while props such as woven baskets, native fabrics, and agricultural products add authenticity to their performances. The competition is not only entertaining but also educational, as it highlights the values and practices that have shaped Ilocano society for generations.  

Beyond the dancing, the festival also features trade fairs and food exhibits that highlight the best of Ilocos Sur. Local entrepreneurs and artisans proudly display their products, ranging from handmade crafts and woven textiles to agricultural goods and delicacies. Visitors can enjoy famous Ilocano dishes such as bagnet, longganisa, and empanada, which are always crowd favorites. These fairs provide opportunities for small businesses to grow and for tourists to experience the flavors and creativity of the province. In this way, the festival supports both cultural preservation and economic development.  

The celebration also includes cultural shows, talent competitions, and pageants, giving young people the chance to shine and represent their communities. These events showcase the artistry and skills of Ilocanos, whether through singing, theater, or traditional performances. They remind everyone that the festival is not only about fun but also about nurturing local talent and passing down traditions to the next generation. Vigan City Fiesta 2026: A Celebration to Remember

     The Vigan City Fiesta 2026 is a happy and meaningful celebration that shows the culture, faith, and unity of the people of Vigan. It is held in honor of St. Paul the Apostle, the patron saint of the city. During the fiesta, the streets are filled with music, colors, and smiling faces.

     One of the most exciting parts of the celebration is the Longganisa Festival, which my friends and I watched on January 22. Elementary and secondary students of Vigan City were the participants for this competition. Their performance was really amazing, especially seeing them proudly presenting their schools. There were colorful displays, lively performances, and many people cheering. It was fun and enjoyable to see how Vigan proudly celebrates its famous product longganisa. Watching the festival made us appreciate how important longganisa is to Vigan’s culture and identity. Aside from Longganisa Festival, there was also Longganisa Cookfest Competition. 

     Food is always an important part of the celebration. Aside from longganisa, visitors can enjoy empanada, bagnet, sinanglao, and many other local dishes. Sharing food with family, friends, and visitors makes the fiesta warmer and more enjoyable.

     The fiesta also becomes more exciting because of the concerts by famous artists. Performances by Parokya ni Edgar, Dionela, and Gigi De Lana brought joy and entertainment to the crowd. Many people gathered to sing along, dance, and enjoy the music. These concerts added fun and energy to the fiesta and made it more memorable for everyone.

     Overall, the Vigan City Fiesta 2026 is not just about fun and celebration. It is a time when people come together to celebrate their culture, faith, and togetherness. Through events like the Longganisa Festival, Cookfest Competition, Carnaval, Kannawidan Festival, floating parade, and exciting concerts, Vigan continues to proudly celebrate and preserve its rich heritage.

My 3rd Quarter Journey: Full of Challenges, Learning, and Growth

     During the third quarter, I learned many important concepts related to HTML and basic document classification. I discovered how HTML Lists work, including ordered lists, unordered lists, nested lists, and description lists, which helped me organize information clearly on a webpage. I also learned how to create HTML Tables to present data in rows and columns, and how HTML Frames allow multiple pages or sections to be displayed within one browser window. In addition, I gained knowledge about DPSA Categories in classifying titles, which improved my understanding of how information can be grouped and identified properly. Creating HTML List Files and HTML Frame Files helped me apply these concepts practically and improved my skills in this topic.

     One of the challenges I encountered during this quarter was remembering the correct HTML tags and their proper usage, especially when creating nested lists, frames, and tables. I also found it challenging to differentiate when to use ordered and unordered lists and how to properly structure frame files without errors. Answering multiple choice and filling‑in‑the‑blanks quizes about HTML Lists and HTML Frames was sometimes confusing because a small mistake in tags or attributes could change the entire output.

     To overcome these challenges, I practiced writing HTML codes repeatedly and reviewed my notes and examples given during discussions. I used trial and error by testing my codes in a browser to immediately see mistakes and correct them. I also paid closer attention to instructions during activities and quizzes, especially in identifying keywords in multiple choice and filling‑in‑the‑blanks questions. Through consistent practice, I can say that I have improved my skills in coding somehow.

     Moving on, I will continue improving my HTML skills by practicing more and being more careful with code structure. I will apply what I learned about lists, tables, and frames in future projects to create more organized and user‑friendly web pages. I will also study more so I can do better in quizzes and activities. Overall, I will keep trying my best to improve my skills in ICT and learn more about coding.

"The HERO of the Filipinos, Jose Rizal"

     Jose Rizal was a Filipino physician, writer, and national hero of the Philippines. He is considered one of the greatest geniuses of the Philippines and is known for his novels, essays, and poems that exposed theills of Spanish colonial rule and inspired the Philippine revolution. Rizal was born in Calamba, Laguna, on June 19, 1861, to Francisco Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonso Realonda. He was the seventh of 11 children. His father was a wealthy farmer and his mother was a descendant of a Chinese merchant. Rizal was a brilliant student and excelled in his studies. He attended the Ateneo Municipal de Manila, where he studied Latin, Spanish, Greek, and philosophy. He then went on to study medicine at the University of Santo Tomas. In 1882, Rizal traveled to Spain to continue his studies. He enrolled at the University of Madrid, where he studied ophthalmology. While in Spain, he became involved in the Filipino nationalist movement.

     He wrote articles and essays that criticized Spanish colonial rule and called for reforms. In 1887, Rizal published his first novel, Noli Me Tangere, which was a thinly veiled attack on the Spanish colonial government. The novel was banned in the Philippines, but it was smuggled into the country and became a bestseller. In 1891, Rizal published his second novel, El Filibusterismo, which was even more critical of Spanish rule. The novel was also banned in the Philippines, but it further inspired the Filipino people to fight for independence. In 1892, Rizal returned to the Philippines. He was arrested by the Spanish authorities and charged with sedition. He was exiled to Dapitan, where he lived for four years. In 1896, the Philippine revolution broke out. Rizal was offered a pardon by the Spanish government if he would renounce his ideals, but he refused. He was rearrested and executed by firing squad on December30, 1896.

     Dr. Jose Rizal is known for his significant contribution to Filipino reform, where his words influenced revolutionaries in their fight for Philippine independence. With his acclaimed novels that exposed cruel Spanish rule, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, he incited public outrage that spurred into nationalistic movement. Apart from those, he founded La Liga Filipina, an organization dedicated to advocating for unity within the Philippine archipelago as defense against all forms of violence.

    Rizal's death sparked the Philippine revolution and led to the eventual independence of the Philippines. He is considered one of the greatest heroes of the Philippines and his legacy continues to inspire people all over the world. Rizal's life and works are a testament to his courage, intelligence, and determination. He was a true patriot who fought for the freedom of his people through the power of his pen. He is an inspiration to allwho believe in the power of peaceful resistance to achieve justice and equality. "Celebrating CHRISTmas in the Philippines"

      As Filipinos enter the "Ber" months (September-December), they kick off the world's longest Christmas season, filling homes with festive decorations, Christmas music, and the start of holiday preparations like gift shopping, family reunions, and anticipation for traditions like Simbang Gabi, reflecting a deep cultural love for the extended holiday spirit that lasts well into January. 

     But beyond the lights, carols, and celebrations, the true essence of Christmas lies in love, compassion, and togetherness. It is a season that reminds people to pause from the rush of daily life and reflect on the importance of kindness, forgiveness, and generosity. Christmas is not merely about the exchange of gifts, but about giving one’s time, care, and understanding to others—especially to those who are in need.

   At its heart, Christmas celebrates hope and faith, symbolized by the birth of Jesus Christ, which teaches humility, selflessness, and unconditional love. For many Filipinos, traditions such as Simbang Gabi, family prayers, and sharing meals strengthen spiritual bonds and deepen one’s relationship with God. These practices serve as reminders that Christmas is a sacred time for reflection and gratitude.

      Ultimately, the true essence of Christmas is found in unity and bayanihan—families coming together, communities helping one another, and hearts opening to reconciliation and peace. When the decorations are taken down and the music fades, what remains is the lasting impact of love shared, lessons learned, and the joy of being present for one another.

     Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ is more than a Christian holiday or Christian festival. It is more than an occasion to decorate our houses. It is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for the love, hope and joy found in Jesus – our Saviour and friend. As we exchange gifts with loved ones, it is out of remembrance of the gift God gave us in Jesus. The gift that we are loved, are never alone and can have hope for the future.

“Weaving Culture for the Future”

      Every October, the Philippines observes National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month, a meaningful celebration that honors the rich heritage, traditions, and invaluable contributions of the country’s Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) and Indigenous Peoples (IPs). In 2025, the theme “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development” highlights how Indigenous Peoples are not only keepers of traditions but essential partners in shaping a sustainable future for the nation. This theme acknowledges that Indigenous cultures form an integral part of the Filipino identity and that their voices should be central in national progress. 

     The imagery of weaving deeply reflects the connection between culture and community, just as individual threads come together to create strong fabrics, Indigenous knowledge, practices, and values contribute to the strength and resilience of Philippine society. Celebrations across regions from cultural dances in Mountain Province to traditional rites in Sagada demonstrate how these traditions are not relics of the past but living practices that continue to thrive. These activities promote pride in ancestry, encourage the transmission of cultural heritage to younger generations, and reinforce respect for diverse Indigenous identities. 

     Significantly, the 2025 celebration also emphasizes sustainable development and empowerment. Indigenous communities have long stewarded the environment, practiced community-based resource management, and preserved biodiversity through ancestral wisdom. These practices are vital in addressing contemporary challenges like climate change and ecological degradation. By valuing Indigenous knowledge systems alongside modern development strategies, the Philippines can pursue growth that is both inclusive and environmentally sound. 

     Despite these strengths, many Indigenous communities still face pressing issues, including limited access to opportunities, threats to ancestral lands, and cultural marginalization. Recognizing these challenges during IP Month is important, as it calls for deeper respect for Indigenous rights, stronger protections, and inclusive policies that uplift Indigenous voices in decision-making processes. Empowering Indigenous Peoples contributes not only to cultural survival but to equitable and resilient national development. 

     In essence, National Indigenous Peoples Month is more than a symbolic commemoration — it is a reminder that the future of sustainable development in the Philippines is strengthened when Indigenous cultures are respected, preserved, and actively included. Through celebration, education, and policy advocacy, this observance calls all Filipinos to recognize Indigenous Peoples as essential contributors to the nation’s past, present, and future.

"President Elpidio Quirino"

   Born to a family of modest means in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Elpidio Quirino was a self-made man of firm determination and burning ambition. While studying in Vigan High School, the young Elpidio taught in Barrio Caparia-an of the adjacent town of Caoayan. He earned enough to finance his transfer to Manila High School, after which he continued to work while studying Law at the University of the Philippines. He was one of the topnotchers of the Bar Examinations of 1915. He began his career as law clerk of the Philippine Commission, before he caught the eye of rising politician Manuel L. Quezon, who became his mentor in life and politics. He served in various capacities: as congressman, senator, cabinet secretary before being elected as Vice President to President Manuel A. Roxas in 1946. When Roxas died of a heart attack in 1948, Quirino took over, andwas elected to his own term the following year. Faced with the difficulties of a war-torn and newly independent republic, Quirino laid the foundations of our nation, and the rebuilding from the ashes of war.

    Born during the decade of the Philippine Revolution, Elpidio’s life parallels the story of the nation from revolution against the Spanishand war against the Americans, to commonwealth under America, war with the Japanese, to liberation and eventual independence. At every stage of that story, Elpidio had an important role to play. His story has been laid aside, forgotten by our young. It is a story worth retelling and remembering. The story of Elpidio Quirino is a one of hope and inspiration, hatred and forgiveness, challenge and triumph. His life and career bear the hallmarks of his cardinal values. 

    President Elpidio Quirino's early achievements focused primarily on post-war economic reconstruction and implementing social welfare programs aimed at stabilizing the newly independent nation. Assuming office after the sudden death of President Manuel Roxas in April 1948, Quirino immediately set out to rebuild the country's infrastructure and restore public confidence in the government. Quirino's administration prioritized the economic recovery of the Philippines by introducing a comprehensive "Total Economic Mobilization Policy". This initiative was a concrete program of action designed to steer the nation toward industrialization and reduce its dependence on agriculture.

     Quirino promised that he will help in rebuilding, repairing and replacing the existing system in the country since it was after the war and everything was back to step one. He promised to solve the unemployment problems that were eminent then. He also intends to increase the wages of the people so as people can purchase and not just produce so as to decrease the inflation rate. Quirino would see to it that prices will be controlled in the market and there will be no overpricing on products. His administration will prioritize on the industrializing the country and using the talents and abilities of the citizens for the development of the Philippines.

"Childrens Month"
